3/3/14
On the morning of March 3rd The Upper Nazareth Fire Dept. was returning from a call and to the surprise of the fire crew discovers a black animal transport bag sitting in front of the fire dept. front door. The temperature was in the teens and windy. Inside was a small kitten very skinny and under nourished. The crew took the kitten inside the station and bought cat food and gave him water. We then made a home for him to sleep and also bought him toys. After a few days of good eating we noticed the kitten was starting to gain weight. As more days went on we could tell the kitten was still a little sick so we notified Nazareth Veterinary Center at 40 West Prospect Street, Nazareth with our story and they donated a free checkup visit and medicine. The kitten caught the affection of the entire dept. so we decided to name him Spartan after our new Rescue/Engine due the end of April. We are happy to report that Spartan is doing fine and is holding down the fort at station 54.
