Upon issuance of a new and or existing Commercial/Industrial Building
Permit Application, said applicant shall receive a Knox Authorization
Order Form.
No occupancy of the building will be allowed until all procedures are
completed.
Upon initial review of the Authorization Order Form - Applicant

Applicant to provide the following
Company/business name and address
Building address within the township
Atleast one contact person
A valid phone number where he or she can be reached
Applicants must contact Knox Coordinator for authorization signature
of Knox Box Order Form
Upon receipt of the Knox Box, Occupant will contact Coordinator for
proper placement of the box the location must be within approval
After the box is properly installed and keys secured the Coordinator
will sign off on the Occupancy Permit Application and or notify the
Zoning Officer of his approval.
The Knox Coordinator shall be notified of:
All vacancies of the premises
All lock changes
Any business/operation changes within the structure
The township will maintain a master file of all Knox Box request
forms supplied by the Fire Company/Coordinator
ZONING ORDINANCE REQUIREMENTS
807. COMMERCIAL AND OR INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS
MASTER KEY KNOX BOXES
807.A BUILDINGS-GENERAL
All new commercial and or industrial buildings constructed
after the effective date hereof, and all existing commercial
and or industrial buildings which undergo remodeling in
excess of $1000.00 after the effective date hereof, shall be
provided with a Master Key Knox Box at a location to be
approved by the Fire Chief or his designee. Such box shall
provided with master keys necessary for all access of all
portions of the premises. Such box and keys shall be
provided before issuance of Certificate of Occupancy.
807.B APPLICATION FOR APPROVAL
Application for approval of compliance with Subsection (A)
above shall be made to the Zoning Officer. Fees shall be set
by the Board of Supervisors. An approved application shall
be executed by the Zoning Officer and Fire Chief prior to
issuance of Certificate of Occupancy.
807.C BUILDINGS WITH ELEVATORS
All buildings equipped with elevators shall be provided
with a master key knox box as in Subsection (A) above.
The building owner/manager shall provide: Two (2) sets
of keys for entry to the building and all portions of the
premises and two (2) sets of elevator control keys if
elevators are equipped with Fire Company by-pass
switches.
807.D OTHER STRUCTURES
All new buildings constructed after the effective date
that contain four (4) or more residential dwellings
that have a common secured entrance or which
undergo remodeling in excess of $1000.00 after
the effective date hereof, shall be provided with
a Master Key Knox Box at a location approved by
the Fire Chief or his designee. Such box shall be
provided with master keys necessary for access
of all portions of the premises. Such box and keys
shall be provided before issuance of Certificate
of Occupancy
